Feedback: IPv6 support on OVH slightly broken

Hi Niall,

You may find some relevant information regarding IPv6 in our online
guide, here:

http://help.ovh.ie/Ipv4Ipv6

Also, if you wish, you may activate the modules by recompiling our
kernel ith module support enabled. You can find the source here:

ftp://ftp.ovh.net/made-in-ovh/bzImag...8.4-ovh.tar.gz

Niall.

I've got Ubuntu Server 9.04 on Kimsufi.ie. Configuring IPv6 support like
this:

Code:
--------------------
iface eth0 inet6 static
pre-up modprobe ipv6
address 2001:41D0:1:E74a::1
netmask 56
gateway 2001:41d0:1:e7ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
--------------------

... doesn't currently work due to OVH kernels not providing a
modules.list in /lib/modules. One has to *always* use:

Code:
--------------------
ifconfig eth0 inet6 add 2001:41D0:1:E74a::1/56
--------------------

... after /etc/init.d/networking has started and then it works okay
(though I worry about the lack of configured gateway). I agree that it
is more the fault of Ubuntu/Debian on trying to scan the modules.list to
ensure the ipv6 module is loaded when OVH have already included it into
the kernel.

I have also placed a (long) guide to my OVH experiences at
http://www.nedprod.com/Niall_stuff/l...oneServer.html with
specific workarounds in setting up a Zope ZEO cluster for running Plone
using a combination of Kimsufi and RPS.

Cheers,
Niall
