Hello,
The shortage of IPv4s began at the end of last year so logically, we have begun to charge for IPv4s, with an aim of being able to re-purchase some on the market, so that we would never be lacking and to guarantee the development of your projects.
That said, and as previously announced, we hope that the cost of IPv4s bears some relation to supply and demand, including the fact that we have an increasing number of IPv4s invoiced.
Today, this equation enables us to reduce the price of
IPv4 from €1.00/month/RIPE IP
to €0.42/month/RIPE IP
We are thinking of revaluating this price approximately every 6 months, considering the need for investment to guarantee that new IPv4s can be purchased. This is why we estimate that the IPv4 price should vary from £0.3/month to £1.00/month over the next 3 to 4 years. However, this will depend on the IPv4 price on the market, the number of IPv4s that we invoice, and your requirements for new IPv4s every month.
This re-evaluation of the IPv4 price was also made possible by the anti spam works that we are currently undertaking on the network. As we all know, the spammers adore cheap IPv4s in large quantities in order to send spam. We are able to offer this attractive price due to the fact that in a few weeks time, we will be able to block spam in real time, before the IP is totally blacklisted.
The current IPv4 prices are also changing from €1.00 to 50c, for both IP Fail-overs and RIPE IPs on all offers.
The shortage has not affected ARIN IPs and so they are free.
Best wishes,
Octave
